Devlog 1 - Setting things to a good start
When I visited the Valencia Indie Summit I found the work of a team from Zaragoza called Casiopea and tried their title Task Force Kampas, a little classic shmup game that looked and felt really good.
Inspired by it I thought of making my own small shmup with a lowres style and a background graphics reminiscent of the european master systems covers (the ones with the white square pattern).
Well, I have made the start screen, a little transition, the pause, game over state and that's it. This time I wanted to have those basic pillars before going into the gameplay programming any further.
Besides fixing a couple of things tomorrow, next stop will be adding a hitstop effect for when you get hit, some visual feedback on shooting the enemies and, if all that goes quick and smoothly, perhaps start digging into a bullet-time/witch-time thing Im thinking as the main mechanic of the game.
